Spring has officially sprung and the weather is beginning to cooperate, despite all the rain on the East coast. That means it’s time for spring cleaning. Dust off the entertainment centers and shelves and bring out the bright colors. Your entire house doesn’t have to be pastel, but don’t choose dark colors. Choose patterns with hot pink and marigold or chartreuse and teal. The idea is to keep things light, happy, and fresh.

Choose linen, sheer, and open weave fabrics for your curtains and bedspreads. Pick out new pillows for your sofas and loveseats, add vases of fresh cut flowers, and place potted greenery in the home. If you don’t have an outdoor patio, you can bring the outside in by purchasing wicker seating for the living room. Can’t afford new furniture? Then simply rearrange your current set. Take the focal point off the fireplace and put it towards the windows.

Spring is also about organizing and de-cluttering the home. Time to get rid of all the junk you no longer need and make a fresh start. Add a new coat of paint to your rooms, change cabinet hardware, and find new artwork for the walls. Spring comes but once a year, so make it a good one.
