Leather vs. Fabric Ashley Sofas

July 25th, 2011 | Posted by KristenM in Furniture Tips

sofa setsOh my! The decisions of furniture buying! There are so many styles and patterns and materials to choose from when it comes to Ashley sofas. Let’s go over the pros and cons of leather and fabric to see which one will be better for your sofas and loveseats.

Leather is very easy to clean. All it takes is a damp cloth and the occasional leather polish and you’re good to go. Leather is also extremely durable and if properly cared for, can last longer than fabric. It’s perfectly clean and sophisticated, making it an optimal choice for modern decor. Although you may think leather is very expensive, there are a variety of types that span across all price ranges. A con of leather is that it can be easily scratched so it’s not good if you have pets. Some people find that leather is cold to the touch and don’t think it’s as comfortable, but that’s a matter of opinion. There is also less of a color choice available.

Fabric sofas offer many colors, styles, and patterns –meaning you can find one to match any style in your home. They are warm and inviting and many find them more comfortable. Some fabric sofas also have removable covers which allow them to be removed and professionally cleaned. The downside is that they can be easily stained by food and drink and they are not as durable.

There is a lot to ponder so consider what suits you best.
