Sofa Sets and Thanksgiving Mishaps

November 22nd, 2011 | Posted by kristing in Furniture Tips

It’s almost that time of year again. The time where your home is crowded full of people from your little nieces and nephews up to great-grandma. The whole gang is here and your furniture is going to take a beating. Are you and your sofa set prepared?

Here are a few tips for protecting your sofas and loveseats through the holiday season:

First, the best way to protect light colored sofas is through a product like scotchguard. Apply this product to an inconspicuous part of your furniture before coating the entire thing and make sure you’re in a well ventilated room! Once the product is dry and set on your sofa or chair, even if great-auntie Muriel spills the entirety of her red wine on your beige furniture, there is no need to panic. It will come off with a quick blot of some paper towels.

You might also want to consider a slipcover that is stain resistant so that you protect the actual sofa without the need for applying a spray stain protector.

If the worst does happen and your furniture is stained, just cover it with a cute throw blanket or some decorative pillows. No one will ever be the wiser.

Keep your furniture looking great through the holidays with these tips. I can’t guarantee your kitchen will look so good after dinner is over, but your living room will look fantastic!
